Principal's Letter

As a former Ellender Memorial Junior High “Pirate”, I am both honored and proud to have been given the opportunity to serve as the principal of Ellender Memorial High School. I have just completed my twentieth year as an educator beginning as a teacher, student council sponsor, coach, master teacher, assistant principal, and now start my fourth year as principal.

My educational background has prepared me for the challenges that come along with running a high school. I completed my bachelor’s degree with a major in History and a minor in Government at Nicholls State University. I then taught social studies and computer literacy at H.L. Bourgeois for one year while working on my certification. In 1996, I went to South Terrebonne to teach science and social studies, and eventually became master teacher. While there I sponsored the student council, and coached football, track, and bowling. In 2008, I completed the National Board Certification process in secondary social studies. In 2011, I completed graduate school at Nicholls State University in K-12 Educational Leadership. In 2012, I was promoted to assistant principal at Terrebonne High School. In 2014, I was promoted to principal here at Ellender Memorial High.

Ellender Memorial High School has a diverse culture that supports academic, artistic, and athletic excellence.  With a student body of just under 1,000 students, teachers must make connections with students and the community.  Teachers and students make a commitment to set high expectations for learning.  The results are students who buy into the educational process, and become successful life-long learners. The Ellender faculty and staff are motivated by the fact that many of our students face challenges outside of school, and that the education we provide can create a pathway to a successful and productive life.  I look forward to leading the students and faculty in this endeavor, while also opening our doors to our community. Together we can provide the best opportunity for student achievement and success.
